The dry conditions in the week leading up to round one of this years race series meant that the loop layed on for us ny the TROG mountain bike club was running fast and well through Rendlesham Forest. The course included some lovely single track combined with some bombholes and sharp drops, tiring but enjoyable seemed to be the general reaction.
CYCC had a good turn out with competitors in 4 catagories. Alex Salmon had the best club result coming in 7th in the Juvenile class, closely followed by Alex Steward and Olly Ford. Jordan Beighton suffered a mechanical followed by a puncture resulting in a long run pushing a bike!
Joe Pitt is racing up ion the Youth catagory this yearm manging a good 7th position against some stiff competition. Meanwhile in the under 12's, a group of 45 riders including Jake Wood enjoyed a series of three coaching sessions, including one taken by myself and John Ford (putting our recent coaching course to good use) on start line techniques. This was followed by a 20 minute race on a shortened version of the adult course with Jake coming in mid field in 22nd place.
Ian Salmon and Adrian Wood completeded our line up in the Open Male catagory.
Looking forward to the next race in Hylands Park now, this course will be familiar to all our members as we use the sections in our regular Writtle meets, it will be good to see you all there.
