Mark Wyer, an Eastern Region Coach with Bitisch cycling joined our club session on Saturday 5/11. We rode from the club house in Writtle, over to Hylands where we rode the single track in wet conditions for the first time this side of the summer. After some race training, Mark made a great point which is worth repeating, "Not all training reuires a park, you can improve your balence and bike handling skills in the back garden starting with track stands. The benefits will then be felt when out on club rides or racing". After comments like that, some impromptu slow races followed which proved to be entertaining. The ride concluded with a loop of the woods off Nathans Lane after which we discovered to mutual annoyance that the cake shop was shut for refurbishment.
In conclusion, Mark, mentioned that the school games have just started to include Mountain Biking. Two of the U16s from the MSG series have just represented the region in Sheffield, it would be fantastic to think that some of our members could be in that position in the coming years, certainly something for all you budding racers to aspire to.
